Which part of Tasmania is the best?
Tasmania is known for its 6 distinct regions. Each offering unique adventures & experiences. Want to know which part of Tassie is the best? Here’s the lowdown.

North West Tasmania
Most under-discovered region
Where the whispers of ancient forests mingle with the salty breeze of rugged coastlines. Cradle Mountain, the Tarkine, dramatic coastlines at Table Cape. You’ll be spoilt for choice.

Hobart & the South
The most popular travel region
Find winding roads leading to hidden coves, dramatic Dolomite cliffs and picturesque towns. Revel in Hobart’s history, gastronomy, and edgy art scene.

The Central Highlands
Remote, peaceful & untravelled
Go where the tourists don’t. Snowy vistas, windswept tarns and pristine wilderness await. Fish for trout in the Great Lakes and hike the Walls of Jerusalem, every step taking you further into Tassie’s great unknown…

Launceston & the North
Foodie haven
Heritage, good food and even better wine converge in the North East. Ride the trails at Derby, down a pint at the Pub in the Paddock, tour the Tamar. Pinot Noir anyone?

The West Coast
Iconic nature
The Western Wilds is certainly that. Puff your way up the wilderness railway. Glide along the Franklin-Gordon River. Spin your wheels on Queenstown’s trails Whatever your fancy, grab your raincoat and your camera, you’re in for a wild ol’ time.

The East Coast
Beachside eatin’ seafood
Paddle the azure waters lapping white sandy beaches. Tuck in to glistening red lobster washed down with a flawless cool climate wine. Walking along flaming shorelines gazing out at an ocean that stretches all the way to Antartica. It’s all romance and good times in the east.

Is Tasmania worth visiting?
Absolutely. Tasmania is unique from the rest of Australia. It’s amazing wildlife and spectacular landscapes, coastline and beaches make Tassie a must visit. The diversity of natural attractions packed into one little island will astound you.

Plus, if you like to breathe, come and gulp down some of the cleanest air on Earth.

Tasmania is hard to travel around without a car. There’s just not the population here to warrant large investments in public transport within it’s cities and towns.
There are inter-city buses / coaches to transport people around the island. Kinetic (Redline) is one of the main coach services. There are no passenger rail services.
Taxis into regional airports (Devonport, Burnie) have to be booked ahead. You won’t find them waiting at the airport to pick up passengers. The same goes for taxi travel from Launceston Airport.
