    Eastford Creek Winery

    Eastford Creek Winery

North West Tasmania’s wines are something special, and it’s easy to see why they’re gaining a reputation beyond the island. With vineyards like Ghost Rock Winery and Eastford Creek Vineyard leading the charge, this region is all about cool-climate elegance. Think crisp, aromatic whites like Pinot Gris and Riesling, and vibrant, fruit-forward reds like Pinot Noir.

Ghost Rock, perched near the coast, is known for its expressive wines that beautifully capture the maritime climate—where sea breezes and mild temperatures let the grapes ripen slowly, developing layers of flavor and a zesty freshness.

Eastford Creek is a more boutique experience. Their wines, refined in structure with a clean, mineral finish. They serve the best local platter we’ve tasted, changing it up seasonally.

North West Tasmania produces wines with character and finesse, perfect pairings with the world class food grown locally.  When you’re exploring this corner of Tassie, a vineyard visit is a must.

    Sweet tooth?

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, Anvers Chocolates just outside of Latrobe is for you.  This chocolate factory is heaven for chocoholics. Run by a Belgian chocolatier, Anvers uses Tasmanian cream and butter from the happiest cows on earth (Tasmanian cows!) to make this exquisite chocolate. There’s a shop but you’d be remiss not to take a stab at the cafe menu too. We love the waffles and thick dreamy hot chocolate. Think Willy Wonka’s world—minus the Oompa-Loompas.

Ice cream lovers congregate in this neck of the woods at Van Diemens Land Creamery. You see, those local cows dotting the landscape also produce the goods to make Tasmania’s best ice cream. No joke. It’s a must stop as you’re zipping along the Bass Highway for very Tassie flavours like Lemon Myrtle and Wattleseed. Yummo!
